There's an existing 250 volt outlet in my garage. It's a four prong 250 volt 50 amp outlet made for a conventional stove. And my miler is a three prong 250v 20 amp. My question is would it be safe to make an Adapter/extension chord and plug in my millermatic to the stove outlet. being that my miller is 250v 20 amp and the outlet reads 250v 50 Amp.

Welding ground clamps don't open very far, as their spring pressure and design insures an effective "bite" on the material. I wouldn't be changing out for "cheapo battery charger" clamps though, consider a 12V battery compared to a 23.5 V MIG machine with a 150 amp output. Dave

I just bought a new 350 P Aluminum welder, All of the plugs in the shop are 50 amp single phase plugs except for my tig welder that has a big Russel Stoll plug that weighs 20 lbs and is rated for 60 amp 3 phase.
